The march snaked its way toward the
center of West Berlin.
It was not until I was in the darkroom, swishing chemicals around over prints, that I realized why this event had seemed different than demonstrations that I had seen in the States.
This was a medieval religious procession. It was not only the European setting, but the participants and what they carried, as well.
